BUSNESS PORTFOLIO:

Agronomic and field services including seed, chemical and fertilizer delivery right to the farm, plus the latest in equipment and custom application. This business segment comprises 68% of Mott’s portfolio.

Remaining businesses support local communities including a hardware and lumber store, an auto service center, a C-Store along with petroleum delivery to farms.​
STAFF SIZE: 17 full-time and 26-part time and seasonal staff
​REPORTS INTO: 5-Member Board of Directors​
START DATE: April 2025 with a May 1, 2025, effective date
​RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT: To live in Mott, ND.​

The Board of Directors of Mott Equity Exchange (The Equity) are seeking a CEO/General Manager (CEO) to lead this organization and drive business results for its member/owners and employees while being a good citizen to the local communities that it serves.
​
The Equity is organized and operated on a cooperative basis with agronomy, hardware, lumber, auto service and C Store operations. Topline sales have averaged $25 million over the last three years with side-by-side businesses all located in Mott, ND.
POSITION OVERVIEW:

This position will appeal to a seasoned leader with prior federated cooperative experience to continue a long tradition of serving member/owners while working in partnership with an elected Board of Directors.

Given the current product portfolio, someone with prior agronomy experience in various crop types, who enjoys navigating the associated challenges with growers, marketplaces, and an ever-changing industry.

A successful business professional that intuitively understands an organizations’ potential and how to obtain and sustain strong financial performance.

Provide leadership for an organization open for growth while running cost-effective operations and guides the performance of the organizational leadership and front-line staff.

The ability to relate to rural members with integrity and high business ethics is necessary.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

This position will appeal to a seasoned ag business executive with 5 - 7 years of solid operational performance who enjoys navigating the associated challenges with growers, marketplaces, and an ever-changing agriculture industry.

Proven business results while leading an organization poised for continual growth while running cost-effective operations. Demonstrated leader that has guided the performance of organizational leadership and front-line staff through participatory leadership practices.

Financial literacy sufficient to understand financial statements, drivers of performance, and how to manage capital. Divisional/department budget responsibility required.

Proven negotiation skills to secure operational and financial agreements.

The ability to relate to rural members with integrity and high business ethics is a must and the ability to partner with a 5-member Board in continuing a strong record of success.

The position will require local and some domestic travel to attend various industry events, conferences, and professional development offerings. Valid driver’s license.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree in business, ag business or equivalent or equivalent years’ experience in progressively responsible leadership positions.

Five to seven years full P&L responsibility and capital plan development.

Diversified ag retail industry or operations background.

Knowledge of agronomy operations or managing a diversified business portfolio with hardware, auto service, C-Store or related background.

Knowledge of and understanding of federated cooperative principles.
